POST AND TOP RAIL OPTIONS
What are the post sizes? How are they used?
First, let’s understand what a post is and what is top rail.  Both are made from same item, pipe. Second, what defines the difference of top rail and post. Pipe size. This refers to two dimensions. The pipes nominal size (NPS) and gauge. NPS is the diameter of the of the inside of the pipe. Gauge refers to the distance between the inside hole of the pipe and the outside diameter
What is pipe gauge? Why does it matter?
Basically, pipe gauge is the thickness of the pipe wall, but it’s more complicated than that. It’s more like a category that defines the ratio of NPS to wall thickness. To further understand the relationship between pipe size, gauge, and wall thicknesses, it’s easiest to refer to a conversion chart.

What makes chain link fabric different? The first thing we talk about is the chain links selvage.
Selvage refers to the way your fence mesh is finished at the top. Twisted selvage offers more security, while Knuckled selvage helps prevent injury.

The second thing we need to look at is the chain link fabrics gauge.
This is the same concept as pipe. The gauge refers to the thickness of the wire mesh. The lower the gauge the thicker the wire and more heavy duty. When referring to vinyl coated the outside dimension is used but the important part to consider is the actual gauge of the inner wire.Â
